HELLO
FRIENDS!
Having something of your loved one is invaluable, especially when they leave us. Let us help you honor them and keep them close to you by repurposing some of the things that were part of their daily lives and will remind you of them for a lifetime.
ABOUT
US
I had a really difficult time after losing
my father (2007), nephew (2010), and mother (2014). After having to let them go, you keep losing little pieces of them - knickknacks, dishes, silverware, blankets ... things that were once important to them. Somethings I was ok with donating or having to let go, but others ... well, it was just so hard. Some of the things I couldn't part with were the clothes I was used to seeing them wear daily. The clothes that touched them and became tattered and worn from their daily wear.

I have 3 sisters and several nieces and nephews, including my own 3 children. I wanted to keep my parents clothes but also wanted to share them with the ones who loved them so much too, but what exactly do you do with someones shirts, pants, buttons, etc.? Store them in a storage box to only pull them out from time to time. or even forget about them?

So, I had an idea ... I love to sew, make jewelry, and craft ... I also wanted to help my family always remember our angels and help comfort them during our new lives without them. That is when I began to create what I knew would be invaluable and comforting items they would always cherish. True treasures I would make right out of our parents clothes!
I cut, stitched and made different items for all of my family. The looks on my family's faces were priceless. How much they treasured these gifts was when I knew I wanted others who are grieving to feel the same comfort that this brought to me and my family. And from this, A Bushel and a Peck was born.
Why this silly name? Because my mother used to sing this song to us when we were young. I can still see and hear her singing in the kitchen of our old house on South Seton Avenue. I couldn't think of a more perfect way to honor my mother than to use the name of the song she used to love singing to us!

I want to help you as you walk through what
is now your new normal. Let me help you or
someone you know by repurposing things
that were important to that person or your
loved one so that you can continue to keep
them visible and close to you for a lifetime.

Meet some of my treasured clients and how together we helped comfort their families and loved ones.
My dad ...
and this is what started this whole venture. When he left us, I couldn't bring myself to get rid of his cloths. I just couldn't. So, for my sisters and I, I made a small quilt with his shirts and backed it with his pants. I also made mini quilts for all the grandchildren.

Necklace
Made from my mother's shirt.
My mom ...
boy, what a hard loss this was and continues to be. My mom meant so much to all of us (3 sisters, 6 nieces and nephews, and my 3 children) that I needed to make something we could all cherish and remember her for the rest of our lives.
Bangel Bracelet
Made from my mother's pants and a button from my father's shirt.
Mini Pillow and Small Bear
My mother was a small lady, so I made a small pillow out of her jeans and a small bear out of her pants and shirt.
Scented Hand
Warmers
My father always
had the warmest and most muscular work hands. He continues to keep my hands warm! The square warmers are made from my dad's flannel shirt and the hearts were cut from my mother's shirt.
Mini Pillow
Pillow made out of Pap's corduroy pants and the heart taken from our of Grandma's nightgown. Initials handstitched.
Pap and Grandma ...
My husband's grandparents. I was able to get to know his pap, but his grandma had left many years before we met. I heard may great things about his grandma. She loved her family so much and loved her roses, When their house sold, we dug up and replanted her rose bushes at our house. She still pricks me every time I trim them! Makes me wonder if she thinks I am not trimming them the way she wants me to! ha ha
Bunnies

Jessie's Grandma
This sweet lady, taken years before her actual departure by dementia, has left something special behind for her granddaughter Jessy and her 3 daughters. Her cloths. With a few favorite shirts she used to wear, I created bunnies for the girls to hold close and remember their sweet great grandma.
Until we meet again,
I will hold you close in my heart!
Bob ...
a man full of fun, laughter and love! This sweet man loved life and trains! With his help, we made some great memory pillows for his family and friends.

Tonya's mom ...
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who was taken quickly and without warning. This shows us just how precious life is and how quickly it can change.
I was able to take a few pieces of her clothing and make some items her daughter can wear, use in her daily life and hug when she needs to feel close to her mom. I can't being her mother back, but I can help keep her present and in her daily life.
Bears
Krystal ...
a sweet mother, daughter, and friend who left this world too soon. One thing so memorable about Krystal was the Victoria's Secrets bag that she carried with her everywhere, Her mother decided to have her bag made into pillows for herself and Tiffany's girls to have and remember her always.
